Nikki Barr is a passionate storyteller who began her artistic journey bitterly embattled with a seventh grade art teacher who insisted her owl drawing wasn’t square enough. Never one to be square, she nonetheless pursued a passion for photography and the dark room through high school. A student of words and art at Central Michigan University, she completed her masters work later at Eastern Michigan University in Communications. Currently, the head of internal communication for a global corporation, she also volunteers regularly for CatNaps of Pottstown, is an avid coffee drinker, can be found frequently at local farmers markets, and continuing to ensure no owl is too square. “Soft pastels are my jawn. For a while I tried watercolor but no luck.” Ria loves her full time job as Accounting Manager for a property management company. It keeps her very busy and provides an outlet for her passion around creative problem solving and implementing efficient processes to get things done. A part-time bookkeeper for 10 years, she also has a penchant for finding 4-leaf clovers. As luck would have it, she was also born an Aunt on Thanksgiving Day! You may also see her out some mornings as she’s recently taken up running and doing 5ks with the hope that someday soon it will get easier! And, if she’s not busy enough, she’s also working on a new podcast: Art Happens Here.
