Introduction to Oil Painting

Jim Green

Tuesdays, 10-1

Classes start on:

Jan. 14, 2025

Length of class:

6 weeks

This class is about the knowledge acquired and the fun involved with creating an oil painting. You will learn how to develop a painting from start to finish, with a focus on preparing the surface, creating an interesting composition, and getting the image onto the canvas.

We will also discuss and practice the application of paint, along with the proper use and care of materials. We will go over practical matters such as the economics of purchasing materials, as well as how to get into art shows and proper framing. Class critiques will be encouraged.

During these sessions I encourage any questions or discussions concerning oil painting because I too am continuously learning from others.
