  • Design & Transfer: Learn how to translate an initial sketch or photograph into a high-contrast design suitable for carving.

  • Safe Carving Techniques: Master the use of various linocut tools (gouges) to safely and effectively carve your image into the linoleum block, focusing on line quality, texture, and handling negative space.

  • Inking the Block: Learn the proper method for rolling out relief printing ink and evenly applying it to your carved block using a brayer.

  • Hand-Printing: Create multiple prints of your unique design using traditional hand-burnishing techniques (no press required!) onto quality printmaking paper.

  • Registration Basics: Get an introduction to simple registration methods for achieving clean print placement.

Important Notes:

  • Level: Beginner (No prior experience is necessary).

  • Materials: All tools, linoleum blocks, quality paper, and inks are provided, please just bring one 4×6 black and white graphic you want to make into a stamp.
